NSFW offers an olfactory pleasure almost too good for work; a perfume that has gorged itself on an immense bouquet of roses. In this overdose, these many petals saturate the composition with a series of contrasts: sedate roses are roused by vinous and dangerous petals, and metallic roses coexist with green ones and jammy ones. Indeed, floral roses cross with herbal roses, earthy roses, pastel roses, and chypre roses. The sum effect of which is a decadent and bursting shower – which, in a miraculous instant, freezes in the midst of its movement. The perfumer’s skill is here the ability to let every rose make its appearance, careful shaded in complementary tones of geranium, vanilla, incense-like papyrus, benzoin, violet, patchouli and oud, all in the service of the central flower. Rose becomes an idea but never an abstraction, rather, its opposite: a hyperreal rose only attainable in perfumery, forming an essence to be appreciated in the most attuned of moments.
