Heeley

James Heeley is the perfumer and owner-founder of luxury French perfume house, Heeley. Always fascinated by the world of scent, it was only after meeting the legendary Annick Goutal that he discovered how scents were designed and made. His fragrances are contemporary and elegant. Born in Yorkshire, England, James Heeley studied Philosophy and Aesthetics at King's College, London University. He lives and works in Paris. Trained as an architect, Heeley leans on this skill which puts his singular creative style on display: architecturally meticulous, angularly precise, restrained and sophisticated – it is an obsession with form.

Every detail, from the creation of the scent to the recyclable packaging is designed 'in house'. Heeley is one of the few owner-founder, and independent luxury perfume houses in Europe and it is this independence that allows the freedom to create scents that are unique.

  • French Made.
  • Heeley’s style is chic and restrained, his scents are discreet, cerebral, and beautiful. There is an emphasis on fresh, citrus-dominant perfumes, which make complex of the category. But also look out for his intellectual interpretations of floral, oud, and chypre categories.
  • Sel Marin is a dream of sun, warm sand, and a gentle breeze of fresh sea air, whilst Note de Yuzu reveals the sharp and gorgeous intensity of yuzu citrus fruit, in collaboration with Maison Kitsune.
  • Cardinal might just be the perfect incense scent, which is like looking through stained-glass windows in a Gothic church.
