Rose Aria captures the scent of a fresh garden rose with a distinct oriental base. The airy opening notes of dew-laden Rose Centifolia are accompanied by fresh notes, almost reminiscent of green apple. Musk, amber and sandalwood elevate the delicate layers of rose, that once airborne leave a distinctive trail of scent and secret admirers. Like music that can be measured by the vibration of audible sound waves, a perfume is often measured by its ‘sillage’, the trail of scent that the wearer leaves behind ‘en passant’. The greater the sillage, the more exquisite a perfume must be.

Although Rose Aria immediately feels like a rose, its impressions exceed this singular theme. An assemblage more than the rose itself, its many accentuations have the creative effect of dissonance. Rose Aria is a quiet drama that varies its rich colour and texture. The central Rose Centifolia note features a distinctive fruitiness, reminiscent of pome fruits and melon, alongside leafy notes that recall the lightness of dew. Its petals are made of translucent gossamer, strengthened with a membrane of amber, musk, and sandalwood, spiced with the soft fire of saffron. What come to prominence is a green apple note – a surprising addition that offers no apologies for its appearance, intensified with the sharp and resinous green of galbanum. It references are decidedly Middle Eastern – a luscious Arabic garden – labyrinthine paths entwine with fragrant roses, the relief of cooling shade and water against gorgeous tiled mosaics.
