Zoologist King Cobra Extrait de Parfum

Intoxicating aromas of exotic greenery infuse the ancient Indian forest. Yet for a snake on the trail of its next meal, there is only one scent – that of a plump rat. But a flick of its slithering tail betrays the snake, sending the rodent darting away. Thwarted, the serpent curls back upon itself, only to feel the cool touch of a menacing shadow. For King Cobra bore witness to the failed hunt and now the predator becomes prey. This time there's no escape. Intent on a breakfast devoured whole and without mercy, the hooded king strikes. Fangs sink deep, their venom coursing through the body of the snake. Instantly paralyzing heart and lungs, the toxins set to work dissolving the flesh from the inside out. King Cobra from Zoologist is driven by danger and a desire to dominate. It hypnotises with camphorous notes of Ganja and petitgrain, radiating coils of aromatic spices and damp mossy soil around a body heavy with incense. Finally, after shedding a delicate green leather, the powerful king ascends to his throne. A coronation of scent, King Cobra gives you licence to rule.

Camphor, black tea, leather, and incense — cool-blooded and reptilian in the finest sense.

Editor's Notes

King Cobra is another reptile to add to the Zoologist range, and as the brand burgeons with mammals, birds, fish, and insects - we can’t help but notice family resemblances. In this family, the sensation of scaly skin can be felt in the texture of the scent, whilst its cool-bloodedness is warmed by something outside of itself (such as the tropical sun in Chameleon, or the scorching heat and smoke of a meteorite in T-Rex). This cool-blooded snake sneaks through warm earth and insulating moss, soil, and shrubbery. Its slivering prowl slinks like steady trails of incense, tea smoke and hyper-green ganja vapours, reinforced with the cool touch of camphor.

Everything about this scent proclaims ‘danger, keep away!’, but in another sense, it is a scent to be dominated by - the snake becomes the hypnotic charmer - the sheer array of impressions is a beguiling complexity that work all too well in King Cobra. It is animalic insofar that it avoids warmth and comfort: its spicy, leathery, and earthy scent profile builds an image of a creature who prefers solitude, its power concentrated in its grip and sharp venom-releasing fangs. A quick snap of movement is all it takes, as the camouflaged creature, nearly imperceptible, emerges suddenly out from the earth. Indeed, the experience of King Cobra is of something unnerving in the background, a disturbance in nature - it is a troubled green wood.

Experiential, harsh, wet soil

It's pretty special... The harsh smell of soil, damp but consistent rain, camphor, minerals etc is arresting. Definitely one of my favourites!

I love it!

Started with a 1ml sample. Ending with a full bottle. King Cobra is the kind of scent that makes you walk differently. It's raw, commanding, and yes — I'm absolutely wearing it hoping women notice. But I'm also aware that a great fragrance only opens the conversation. The rest is up to me, and King Cobra has set the bar embarrassingly high.

Carry me away!

Broadly speaking, Zoologist perfumes represent either the animal or its habitat. This leans more to the latter, recreating, in some detail, the smells of the King Cobra’s environment. Another Prin Lomros masterpiece, this fragrance is far more subtle and nuanced that Rhinoceros but no less evocative. It opens very green and earthy like the jungle floor where our King searches for his food. As it dries down the jungle notes clear and we transition into dryer surrounds. The soil is dusty and Ganja incense hangs in the air. He is now the spectacle in an Indian bazaar. To the hypnotic tune of a pungi he rises and sways as the audience looks on, wondering when he will strike out at his charmer. It’s hard to imagine the scent of a cobra but the story embodied in this fragrance is so evocative that my imagination fills in the gaps. I swear I can smell the clean animalic scent of reptilian skin.
This would be a definite ‘buy’ for me if I hadn’t already spent my life savings on so many other Zoologist perfumes!😊

Unique scent

A powerful green/spicy scent, a little overpowering at the opening, but is quite nice after a few hours.
