Camel is a wondrous dream; a vision induced by long tendrils of incense smoke and a look deep into the glowing centre of burning resins and gums. It is the light of the sun seen at different times: different points of illumination that transforms the same scene; never the same as the one before it. This perfume is a story told on an infinite tapestry formed into a mobius strip. After a long voyage, it is to return to the same place that is indeterminately transformed and not quite the same.

Camel is a pleasure of resins and dried fruits, a shifting and sliding arrangement of knobbly tears of frankincense, myrrh, and jewel-shaped dates cascading through sunburnt sand. The heat of sand is evoked through cinnamon, which is dusty and saps the perfume of moisture, this effect repeated with oud, vetiver, and cedar. In the centre is a gloriously classic combination of floral notes - namely that of rose, jasmine, and orange blossom, exalted with the unmistakable tonality of civet, which allows these petals to radiate a slinky fire of sultry floral breath.

Therein lies the secret of Camel. At its core, it is an authentic and intoxicating classical floral symphony of the highest order, dressed in an Arabesque of balms made from the deepest, most burnished fruits, treasured resins, and precious oud. A glorious orchestration that gives logic to a greedy bounty of ingredients.

It has to be one of my favourites !

Indescribable emotions, a scent that is so emotional that I wrote my notes while in tears.

Tried during summer, during daytime.

I feel like when I write reviews for perfumes, I do so in a way that could come across as pretentious. The nose is so sensitive to memories, and this scent has memories so deeply embedded in it that I almost dont know what to do with myself.

I like to take initial notes when I first spray, and then let the words come to me slowly. My initial notes are as follows:
Dirty, but in a way thats expected. It smells like a hippie store. like my mother. no, like my yiayia. it smells like animals and dried fruit. the smell of a farmers market. Unmistakable undertone of fur and musk, but mixed with how i remember Chanel no.5 to smell on my yiayia.

I think my initial notes truly describe the journey I went on with this scent. It smells like walking through the streets to get gelato with my yiayia, and how she smelled. The smell of rum and raisin ice cream and, like I already mentioned, how Chanel no.5 smelled on her skin chemistry specifically.

There is so much more I could write. There's so many genuine emotions that I cant even begin to put into words. This is so deeply personal, and not something I expect anyone else to understand. I wish I could justify buying a whole bottle, just to have this experience again.

Nice, but not enough intensity.

Have been trying a sample and really like this fragrance. It's a good balance of animalics and woods with floral spice top notes. It actually does smell like a camel loaded up with exotic fruit and spices. The problem is, unlike most Zoologist concoctions, this one doesn't last long and dries down to be barely perceptable on my skin after 2 hours. At the price I expect more longevity and projection. At 40% (not 20) it would be a real banger.
