Toskovat Age of Innocence Extrait de Parfum

Today I remembered cycles. I saw children on their bicycles near cars rushing by. Exhaust blowing on cotton candy. Funny circus, absurd circle. It reminds me of knowing sweetness when I was their age. Strawberry jam and raspberry yoghurt. It was all so good but I couldn’t know it.

Then this metallic screech interrupted it all. The abrupt brake on youth. Hot, torn rubber marked so all could see. Born out of petrol on a back seat. I was all so fast and loud, and the car couldn’t reverse again.

Now I’m parked in a hospital. Hope they have something sweet in store for me.

Bubblegum, cotton candy, and oud — childhood sweetness layered over natural wood.

Editor's Notes

Don’t expect a natural strawberry in Age of Innocence, but a summation of memories and impressions - pink and red lip-gloss, strawberry yogurt, sweet jams, freshly opened bags of chewy candies, burnt sugar - our recollections are always olfactory at first, before we even find the image that matches. Strong smells saturate our memories: this realer-than-real strawberry clashes and melds with the strange and dark elegance of industrial sensations. Like smelling hot rubber, gasoline, or smoke for the first time - we recall its intensity, its unnerving unnaturalness, but also its strange appeal. I am reminded of chalk dust, rose petals, unleaded 95, damp mornings in nature, latex gloves, a doctor’s office, wood fire (cade), and whiteboard markers. A mechanic blowing pink bubblegum, a red lollypop in an oil spill, the lingering presence of smoke. The great pleasure of Age of Innocence is its combination of textures - both sticky and slick - two concepts coexist, one no more privileged than the other, flushed in smoke.
