Perfumer’s Inspiration:
“SHADID was inspired by a drive through the desert from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Wide blue skies, endless horizons, heat, silence, and solitude form a nearly mystical experience where memories surface, colours intensify, and time seems suspended. These impressions merge with recollections of journeys through oriental landscapes, including Saudi Arabia. Rich, warm, and deeply evocative, SHADID captures a feeling of vastness and intensity, tempered by calm and clarity.”

At first, you might read SHADID as an oud fragrance - though that wouldn’t quite be right. Rather, its dark, leathery character is the result of a blend of many associated materials, from castoreum, ambergris, and nargamotha (popularly known as cypriol). And it’s truly wonderful, rich in the usual Tauer style, materials are handled in this blend so they never feel oppressive or inelegant. Its power and potential force is apparent.

Everything is brilliantly lit, smoothed of roughness, and seen to their end. A hum of coriander seed fizzes with the signature Tauerade, sparkling and overflowing, wrapped up in the clean smokeless burn of cypriol and a soft hug of vanilla. A bonfire in the distance, this settles on the dry wood notes of sandalwood and cedar with a discernible leathery facet that develops throughout wear.
