L’Air du Jardin Caché is a floral perfume shaped around brightness, definition, and calm hold. Bergamot brightness and an aldehydic lift open the fragrance. Hyacinth impression, dewy petals, rose softness, geranium nuance, and violet nuance form the heart. Cedarwood, sandalwood, ambroxan, benzoin, and soft woody musks give it a calm woody amber base on skin.

The label shows the number 21. This perfume is also released as part of the 21st anniversary of Tauer Perfumes and reflects a classical perfumery spirit in a fully contemporary form. It is unisex and entirely concentrated at 25% fragrance oil.

Perfumer’s Inspiration:
"I have always loved the presence of hyacinth, not as something decorative or simply spring-like, but as something vivid, green, elegant, and full of character. It carries light, but it also carries shape. That tension has stayed with me for a long time.

With L’Air du Jardin Caché, I wanted to work from that love of hyacinth and from my equal love of classical perfumery. I wanted the perfume to feel rooted in the great tradition of classical French artistic perfume, with richness, proportion, and beauty, yet not become trapped by the old limits of the genre. The aim was to create something genuinely new: a floral perfume with refinement and tradition behind it, but with a freer, more vivid movement and a more open, modern sense of air. Something classical in spirit, but not retrospective. Something that keeps its elegance while breaking the usual limits of what a floral perfume is expected to be."

Editor's Notes

Simply brillant. L’Air du Jardin Caché will appeal to the most devoted fans of the Tauer style, which has passionately merged traditional and new forms. Jardin Caché is particularly overt about this, restating Andy Tauer’s love of floral materials - this time through hyacinth, flecked with violets and melodic with tender rose. While hyacinth’s classicism is indubitable, as if it were already built into its aroma, Tauer enacts his idiosyncrasies as a perfumer: he brings this material in contact with his signature ‘Tauerade’. The result is a curious sort of exaggeration - it at once draws away from its natural sense, while giving the scent extension and vitality. This Tauerade, a blend of labdanum, ambrox, irones/ionones, and some woody shading (by my estimation) - continues to bring so much life to Andy’s compositions. Here, however, it does not hide among heavy folds of cedar, oud, or leather - but exalts the floral aspects of the fragrance. Happily paired with ebullient aldehydes up top and a cocktail of musks at the base, the total fragrance recalls many of the classic greats, done with modernity and style. L’Air du Jardin Caché is a soft floral slightly inflected green. Its finish is long and steady, scintillating and fascinating.
