Bright, golden dewdrops sparkle upon lush green ferns. Fougere L'Aube is cool and fresh, like the brisk air surrounding the glow of the morning sun. “I built the initial base structure of Fougere L’Aube as a classic 1930s fragrance which yielded a cozy, classic scent. It was reminiscent of the men’s colognes and aftershaves I smelled as a child; very nostalgic, very familiar. I then took this base formula and accentuated it with a few modern aroma chems, and the fragrance was completely transformed into a super-fresh late 1980s style Fougère. Fougere L’Aube is unafraid of collaging its materials and inspirations, unified with a central and familiar accord of lavender-rose-sandalwood. It first begins with a lavender note illuminated all over in fresh citrus notes, mint, and geranium, backed with bitter green galbanum and oakmoss. This crisp and slightly camphoraceous effect is redolent of vintage aftershaves, and is full of texture and sizzle that provides a dominant fern-like impression.

Lavender then changes its face – its freshness becomes extraordinary, dramatic – it picks up the best of the overdosed aquatic Fougères of the 1980s. Cool Water comes to mind. A generosity of natural materials is the fragrance’s point of difference, which becomes a sensation more than anything else. It is grounded and pure, and Fougere L’Aube shines beautifully. With a slightly exaggerated quality, it presents a glorious and striking aquatic fragrance just as we remember them to be.
