Perfumer’s Inspiration:
"Immortelle fascinates me. It is all around my place in the Corsican Maquis, where I spend as much time as possible. I wanted its radiance during the summer solstice, when it is gorged with sun. It was a chef friend of mine who unwittingly gave me the key to the composition: associating ingredients that have the same colour. “It always works”, he claimed. As soon as I’d found my saffron – apricot – lemon accord, I knew I had the starting point of my story. Since I wanted a velvety texture, I chose a natural, juicy apricot, which also bring a soft orange light. This is one of my shortest formulas. I wanted it to be impactful, obvious, while remaining elegant.

Everlasting flower, or immortelle, is said to be immortal because its small yellow flowers never fade. Its absolute is very powerful and faceted, difficult to tame in a perfume."

What sets this fragrance apart from the few immortelles on the market is the ability to walk through the scent; Marc-Antoine has created something that does away with its oppressiveness, taming what is otherwise wild and unruly. He treats it with the utmost respect, integrating it into a chypre framework with many gentle surprises. It tangles among a frisée of oakmoss, as if to brighten its umbrous body and to accentuate its outlines in golden reflection, with light from a sunshine combination of lemon, the ripe flesh of apricot, and saffron with a fire of its own. Not quite chiaroscuro, but the meeting of opposites in harmony. The total result is a leathery texture: immortelle’s syrupy touch is curtailed, and the flames of immortelle are tamed - a dry landscape is evoked, strewn with sun roasted herbs and roasted earth. Yet another portrait of diverse Corsica.
