Editor's Notes

Imagine the scent of a terrarium, a whole living - inhaling and exhaling - ecosystem, with signs of life found in the presence of mushroom and moss, dank woods and damp earth. Micodelirio is in fact an aromatic fougere - the presence of geranium, coumarin, and patchouli point in this direction. This is a fragrance from the Crazy Nose, after all, so it is anything but traditional. Alessandro Gaultieri shakes up this framework with an emphasis on its earthy underside - with an overdose of geosmin, the characteristic smell of the rain, like the mineral sweat from parched stones and arid, chapped earth. The balance is extraordinary: a fine leafiness redolent of fig leaf, creamy-milky coconut-like lactones, soft jasmine and ylang-ylang, and a refreshing dash of bergamot and grapefruit contextualise this geosmin note, which all too often sticks out and nags. Wrapped in patchouli and woody vetiver, the earthiness is nuanced and multi-textured, without being jagged or coarse. It is this combination of materials that give Micodelirio its mushroom impression; though you might also think of beetroot, radish, and other root vegetables.

As if to remind the wearer that this is a Nasomatto perfume, Gaultieri finishes the scent with a typical cocktail of amberwoods - javanol, ambrocenide, ambroxide, ambrettolide - this fistful of powerful materials feels like a stainless steel pole driven deep into the earth, steadying and fixating, buffed with musk that makes this earthiness as soft as a feather pillow in the end. Its lasting power is a given. The first aromatic fougere from Alessandro Gaultieri.
