Inspired by Iddu, a local nickname for the living volcano that towers over the island of Stromboli, Id is an olfactory dedication to this fiery primal being that first breathed Mendittorosa into life. Impassioned and untethered, an iris heart lies beneath volcanic sediments of violet and oud. An overdose of labdanum gives Id its truly distinctive raw character.

Id is genderless like an angel. Opening and closures that chase one another. Lights and shadows. Alfa and Omega are extreme and desperate. Id is peaceful, balanced and kind. Editor's Notes

At first, one is struck by the familiarity of Id’s spicy-sweet construction; a seasoned amber based upon the soft and indulgent flames of the classic ‘Mellis’ accord, built from heated spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg), spicy flowers (jasmine, carnation), soft resins and patchouli. It’s the perfect means to evoke the active Iddu volcano on the island of Stromboli in Northern Sicily, which has been in continuous eruption for over 2,000 years. After a strong spicy opening, a flurry of flowers and fire, with a surprising charge of violet, Id builds an earthy sense with its combination of iris, then deepened, darkened, warmed, and lightly smoky with oud, birch, labdanum, and benzoin. Settling beautifully, Id is an incredible elegance, a gentle yet notable contrast.

In this trilogy - Id is the signification of rebirth and renewal: what ends (Omega) must start again (Alfa). Magma represents flux, multiplicity, and potential transformation; the energy of change and the notion of becoming.
