The fragrance opens with fresh and flowery top notes of neroli and orange flower before tobacco blossom, honey,and beeswax take over. The rich and deep heart, with hints of dried fruit and creamy tuberose – is delicately anchored by a base of warm resins that give Slowdive its soft and exotic touch.

Slowdive centres itself around honey, doing so with clarity, directness, and realism. Its architecture feels measured and deliberate, with contrasts and pockets of air that allow each facet to come through.

The opening leans grainy and sun-warmed, like bran scattered through a haze of late-afternoon gold. That warmth is lacquered with a bright, nectarous honey, carrying traces of meadow flowers, pollen dust, and green herbs. As the cereal aspect softens, it drifts toward tobacco leaf- first toasted, then gently smoky - broadening the scent into a panorama of ambered hues: orange preserve, chewy raisins, chamomile left to dry in the shade, faint resin like cold incense, a yeasty weissbier glow, and the tang of apple peel.

Threaded through this is a slim, cool line of tuberose. It contributes a crisp green edge, a breath of lift, keeping the composition luminous rather than syrup-laden.

The honey–beeswax accord, Slowdive’s backbone, is judged with remarkable restraint: always perceptible, never collapsing into heaviness or becoming shapeless. Instead of sticking or smothering, the fragrance shimmers, gradually parching as the tobacco gains prominence. It evolves through subtle shifts, settling into a mellow radiance-light filtered through amber crystals, soft, honey-tinted, contemplative.

Smells goooood

A rich jammy sweet honey. Loooove this one. It smells like real ingredients not like aroma chemicals!

two roads to the same animalic

love. signature. second full bottle i've actually bought after extended sampling, which tells you everything before i start describing it.
the closest reference point is zoologist bee, same beeswax-honey-floral register.
the honey here is not sweet honey. it's dense and waxy, the real beeswax thing with its slightly medicinal undercurrent, like a warming honeycomb candle you've just blown out. fatty, opaque, golden. if someone put sweet on this i'd understand why they said it but the word is wrong. it's warm. that's different.
there's a bitter slightly medicinal green edge running through the opening that stops the whole thing from becoming a dessert. i think it's the tobacco blossom, which apparently functions more like dry hay and chamomile than pipe tobacco, and it works like a seatbelt keeping the honey from tipping into cloying. underneath all of that is creamy tuberose and a resin base holding the structure up.
it's a lot, but in a good way. intoxicating, tactile, very sexy. a languid summer afternoon standing too close to a beehive and not wanting to move. warmth and sweetness and something slightly dangerous about how much of it there is.
the thing i keep thinking about is how this sits next to under my skin in my head. under my skin is my anchor, the castoreum-leather-skin road to the animalic. slowdive is the honey-beeswax-waxy-floral road to the same core preference. two completely different structures getting to the same feeling. it tells me something about myself i didn't fully know before: my animalic love isn't about any specific material, it's about warmth and body and a slight sense of danger, and there are apparently many paths to it.

Queen bee

An extremely realistic honey-themed fragrance, Slowdive captures the experience of burying your nose in a living hive—something that I have in fact done, having a friend who used to keep a hive on the roof of his apartment building, before the strata committee forced him to remove it.

Sun-drench, it has a rich, balsamic sweetness, with notes of pollen, propolis and beeswax, the fermented twang of rum and raisin, balanced by dry malt, leafy tobacco, and the crispness of neroli. It's like honey on your tongue, a moment of bright acidity before the sugars dissolve and the floral, fruity nuances express themselves with exuberant intensity. Linear but beautifully blended and with excellent longevity, I enjoy Slowdive on its own, but it's also a very versatile fragrance for layering, adding warmth and an intoxicating sweetness that's irresistible to anyone with a sweet tooth.
