“A Chypre structure presents an animalic facet that makes this fragrance seductive and intense as well as sophisticated and somehow vintage. The references that inspired this creation are the glorious places of Italian social life of the past years. The carefree atmosphere of the Roman Dolce Vita, the sense of freedom of Wyler’s Roman Holiday, or the refined-yet-casual vibe of Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley.

This is the first fragrance devoted entirely to a specific ingredient. This composition is conceived not as a simple rendition of a flower, it is a complex composition, only centred on the Neroli as major ingredients. Because of this, it  has great longevity, body and structure.”

Libertine Neroli is an homage not only to the flowers of the bitter orange tree, but its entire bounty - including the leaves, twigs, and the aromatic skin of the fruit. By alloying this to a Chypre structure, an otherwise direct citrus and floral impression gains in unbelievable complexity. The result is delightfully grand but so very wearable. Neroli inevitably sparks memories of vintage Cologne splashes, functionally closer to a salubrious tonic than a fragrance. In this next instant, an injection of leathery oakmoss and spices call to mind yet another idea of the tonic - this time a bitter and herbal melange. Light and dark all at once, Francesca Bianchi showcases a deep and comprehensive understanding of her materials.
