Concentration never at the expense of lightness, Bois Imperial Extrait is made of the thickest polished glass. Wood turned to glass, it is a dome that encloses spicy, floral, and balmy materials. Each ingredient is filled with solar light, while the glass itself warms as this radiance strikes its surface. The result is a total transformation, as familiar materials gain (and lose) in weight, texture, and gravity. The spice notes at the top of this perfume are citric and sparkling, while the rose becomes buoyant, fleshy, and yet razor edged. A balsamic core of labdanum, patchouli, and fir becomes surprisingly effervescent - like a cordial made from pine needles and sap. Contradiction continues to define this cult fragrance, which has been made even more dramatic.
