The immediate impression with Dark is not strictly chocolate - but a mellow and bold patchouli, drawing the scent deeper into the darkness, raising the impression of cacao content from 70% to 90%. Master perfumer Olivier Cresp, the author of the legendary gourmand Angel, turns this style on its head. No fairy floss brightness, red fruit thwack, caramel melt: this is a gourmand drawn from the earth. Pleasure is found in its earthiness, bitterness, and the semi-sweet dustiness. Hazelnut, cinnamon, vanilla - all present and in the service of the chocolate impression, built beautifully from gorgeous cacao powder.
