It seems that everyone has memories of cakes baked at home - memories of batter and frosting, anticipation, and delight. Bake’s premise is a simple one: the stupendous alchemy of butter, sugar, and flavourings - the zip and rise of lemon, from the grater into the batter, the deep comfort of vanilla, the sweet warmth of praline, and a drizzle of sugary icing. Bake assembles these memories into a unified whole, in good taste (in both senses of the word), balanced to perfection - served up with a decadent dollop of cream.
