Supply The Single Edge Max Razor

Ok, I was a skeptic. I've seen claims about razors my entire life. This or that new technology was going to give me the best shave ever, etc. I've been through all the stages of Gillette offerings. And Schick. And in recent years, Harry's. Basically Gillette found my point of no return when I went in to my drugstore to buy refill blades and they were behind locked doors and about to set me back $50 bucks! So I gave Harry's a try. Their "German" blades were pretty good for a while and defintely priced right. But when they put themselves up for sale to a larger group, the so-called "German" blades turned into nick city...

And then I saw a pic of the Single Edge Max on Instagram and thought, hmm, single edge, are we going all the way back to when I used to watch my dad shave when I was a kid. The idea intrigued me, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've long known about Japanese forging techniques, as I use Japanese made golf clubs which are totally superior to American made. So I popped for the SE Max.

And I'm here to tell you I was shocked. My first shave with the Max, I had to look in a shaving mirror to be sure it was actually working. Never felt anything like the glide this thing produced. It was, as Supply says, like sweeping across my face, not shaving it. Unbelievably smooth. Effortless. I couldn't believe it. So, impressed as I was, I tried the platinum blades. And amazingly they were even better. These people were onto something!

Intrigued, I ordered some of their other products too. The after shave and moisturizer were equally impressive. No sting or burn after shaving. Just more smooth and even soothing. Great scents, not overpowering.

So, bottom line, I'm a total convert. These people make incredible products for men. Every one of them delivers as advertised. Most especially the Max and everything else built to support the absolutely unique shave it gives.

I've now dedicated a shelf in my bathroom to Supply. And I actually look forward to shaving for the first time in a very long time. Total thumbs up to Supply.

I’ve been using a Gillette multi-blade razor for most of my adult life but I loved your marketing and purchased one of your single blade razors. Honestly, I haven’t had to tear a little piece of tissue paper to stop a razor cut since I had blemishes. The second day I used the Supply single edge blade I got a cut above my Adams apple and a razor burn to the right of it. What is it I’m doing wrong with your razor.

I found the MAX an excellent contender to the Pro and the magnetic trick is great. I shaved my right side with the Pro and left side with the MAX.... I believe the Pro was slightly better, but it will come down to taste. Still, I believe I like the pro better. the four stars is to keep the Pro as the winner... and because you do not give the option to buy the MAX with platinum blades, they are far superior to the black ones.

This is my 3rd razor from Supply, and the design improvements just keep getting better and better. My absolute favorite feature of this newest razor variant is the locking system that holds the blade in place, which prevents the blade from sliding back and forth, something that bothered me with previous versions. The amount of blade exposure is satisfying and held at a perfect angle for a nice, smooth, and comfortable shave. All these new features, combined with the new magnetic flex head, shows a lot of thought was put into redesigning this product where it counts. Very happy to be able to grow with this company as they enhance my shaving experience with each new product!

I’ve been a Supply user for quite a while - I have a 2.0 and a Pro which get regular use. I couldn’t resist the Max, with its pivoting head - and I’m really happy with it. I get a clean, comfortable shave with a minimum of effort, and I find its weight and proportions the best yet from Supply. I can’t imagine what you’ll do to top this!

My only regret is that I wish I’d bought the sterling version - but that’s purely an aesthetic choice.

have all type of singles razor from supply and shaving for a few years now. Only issue I had was curving around my chin line. The Single Edge Max has got the “moves”. Easy to use, no blood and gore. Excellent comfortable shave. I can confirm that with Single Edge Max say goodbye for irritations. I have the only problem that happened to me is that there some chips or scratch around where the two different pieces come together.

Very close,smooth and nice. I’ve had supply for a while now and love all there products. This razor is easy and close. You’ll love using it, together with the shaving cream and after shave it’s the ultimate shave. Very light, versatile and you’ll save a boat load on blades. I will never go back to cartridges.

In January of 2023 I ordered the Supply SE, as I wanted a razor that didn't use proprietary blades or cartridges and the SE fir the bill.
I could NEVER warm up to the injection process of the blades and hated every shave I had with that razor. I either had "no shave" or my face was on fire. Supply was kind enough to supply ( :-D ) an additional blade pack but ultimately, I determined that a fixed razor head is not for me, and I kept using a way more expensive competitor with proprietary blades.

Fast forward to 2025. I am using pivoting razors with a single blade (in one case half a DE blade, the other one a proprietary blade) and I am more open to a razor that works - proprietary blades or not.

This is where the actual review begins. I ordered the Max and in addition the stand and the Platinum blades to be able to try both.
The razor itself is solid, albeit a bit top heavy. I also wished they made the top and bottom in the same color, but thats a really minor gripe. I had a bit of trouble opening the razor to load the blade, but I figured it out. The blade also needed a bit of vertical alignment from me to line up with the three knobs in the head.

But then - the shave!
Maybe it is my years of experience using pivoting head, but this razor mowed through my 1.5-day stubble like it is nothing and after two passed (WTG and ATG) I only needed minor touch-ups in my usual trouble-spots next to my chin.
it feels more aggressive than the two competitors but is still smooth to the skin. If the blades hold their promised lifespan, I can see myself making this my daily razor.

As much as I do not mind the fact that I can only but the blades here, I would like to see if the switchblade system and refills be made out of a material other than plastic. I think it detracts a bit from the whole sustainibility point that I think is a large driving force behind singel edge razors.

This is my first experience with a single blade razor and avoided it for the longest time because I was worried about a learning curve and or cutting myself. This razor is simple to use and there really is no learning curve. I have nicked myself once but that was user error. I love it. Does take a little more time to shave and I have to shave both with and against the grain to get everything but I am very very pleased. If you’re hesitant, don’t be. It is stupid simple to use.

I ordered the SE starter set before the SE Max was announced. I wanted a simpler shave experience after getting frustrated with ingrown hair issues with multi-blade razor brands. I was pleased with the closeness of the shave while avoiding ingrown hairs, but I was finding it difficult to get the right angle without nicking myself, especially along my jawline and neck. When the SE Max became available, I decided to give it a try. I'm a couple weeks in now, and I'm pleased with the results. The pivoting head makes it feel more natural. While it's not impossible to nick yourself with the SE Max, I feel like I'm getting better and better with each shave, and my skin feels healthier and less irritated.

My only complaint is that there was a minor imperfection in the polished finish of the razor head and scratches on the rotating part of the cartridge. It doesn't affect the function, but it was a little disappointing to find it that way right out of the package.

I’ve been using Supply products since 2019 after discovering them on Shark Tank, and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since. I’ve tried the Safety, the SE, and the Original razors—each one delivered an outstanding shave—but the Original had always been my favorite… until the Single Edge MAX.

I purchased the SE a while back and when I saw the new SE Max, I had to have it. It's a easy transition and feels great in the hand. And I think the best shave I've ever had.

I'm a daily shaver. I switched to DE about 7 years ago. Shaving is not a chore for me and I've had a lot of different razors over the years. I'm truly getting the best shaves since switching to traditional shaving years ago. Close and comfortable everyday for the 2 weeks since I've had the MAX. I'd very much recommend this razor to anyone new to single edge razors or a veteran to traditional shaving. Also, I saw complaints about the proprietary blades. This is not an issue at all for me being as the blade quality is great, and are very reasonably priced considering the longevity of the blades for me. Thanks for making a great product and the good shaves!

Received my single edge Max razor and I’ve used it twice already! In my opinion, Supply has developed a winner here. Loading the blade was a little tricky for me, but with two tries, it was in and ready for use (chalk it up to operator error here)! The Max gives me a smooth shave without too much extra effort at all in how I use it. I have had to go over a couple of spots as I use it more than once, but I believe it’s me getting used to the razor and it’s weight. I feel like I can get done with my shave a little quicker with the Max than with my SE razor( which I still love and will use as a backup anytime), and my shave just feels close and effortless with the Max! I also like the looks of the Max, and really appreciate the matching razor holder thats included! I HIGHLY recommend it—Supply, it’s a winner!

I have used the Max Razor for a week now. The shave is very comfortable, and I have had no irritation. The razor has a nice weight, and the pivoting head makes shaving your chin a neck
very easy and you get a very close shave. The top of the pivoting head opens up for loading the blade and is also helps with cleaning the razor. Loading the razor with the new carriage system is very simple and quick. One more feature; The razor comes with a mounting bracket which you can use to attach it to your wall or to the wall in your shower. This razor is great.

Once I received the MAX, I waited 5 days to offer a good bit of stubble for my first shave. After watching the online tutorial, I appreciated the recommendation for light pressure but did manage to add more than required on some swipes. The razor did all the work with minimal effort and provided a very smooth shave. The blade loading was simple enough but I noticed there were two blades available when I rotated the test cartridge. I assume this was an error so I disposed of the one on top and used the one below that was supported by the pegs. I did manage two nicks because yes, I applied more pressure than was required. There is a short learning curve as I managed to nick my Adam's apple by using too much pressure. I typically use the SE and miss some of the beard hairs located around the bottom of the neck so I tried harder than necessary to remove those. By the way, the hairs that I sometimes miss with the SE were all taken down by the MAX. I usually experience some hair just below my chin when I shave with the SE but the MAX, with the pivoting head, handled these with ease. This shave is very close and I felt some minor sting when I rinsed my face with cold water. However, when I applied the Supply Post Shave there was no sting whatsoever. I love the way the MAX glides on the face and I look forward to getting hold of the production version. I also recommend a stand similar to the one that holds the SE.

I think shaving with a dull BIC left in a train station would be better than what ever this is. Every day it feels likes its pulling out my whiskers from my soul. I have the original Supply and that is brilliant. I wish I had gotten another one of those then what ever this is trying to be.
