Two notes vie in the base of Sin & Pleasure, as boozy caramel oozes across the hard and impenetrable surface of oud and sandalwood, bound in leather and stuffed with umbrous patchouli and oakmoss. This fragrance is undoubtedly interesting - its contrasts are stark yet unified. On the one hand it is an impassable and austere fragrance, full of animal and funk; but on the other, it is generous and gorgeous, replete with florals that emanate sunshine and keep the fragrance from engulfing the wearer. An almond note, more green and blossomy and vanillic than the kernel, coats this fragrance in a powdery softness - and to this end smooths the coarse surface of the base. There’s no mistaking that this is an oud fragrance, but unlike so many others on the market, it is only the beginning - and where it ends up is in a state of exposure.
