With my 40's imminent, my evening routine has taken on a renewed focus—skincare is now front and centre. The need to protect and nurture my skin has never felt more crucial. Read on for my full selection of products
Urth Face Wash with White Tea & Ginseng
A night routine is about washing off the day and feeding the skin as it gets to work while you sleep. The effective cleansing action of Urth’s Face Wash creates a canvas that primes the skin to receive the benefits of a serum and/or a moisturiser. More than a cleanser, this is packed with ingredients that detoxify and tone - lactic acid, for instance, is a supremely gentle acid that exfoliates the skin, allowing restorative and brightening vitamins A, C, and E to get to work.
Patricks SH+ Ultra Thickening Shampoo Plus
For those who seek lusciousness, this SH+ Shampoo from Patrick’s is intent upon thickening - and is specifically engineered to incorporate the most advanced active ingredients, at the highest possible percentages. It fortifies what’s there, and with frequent use, minimises hair loss. A blend of bergamot, rose, and patchouli makes for a very pleasant shower experience.
Firsthand Supply Hydrating Shampoo + Conditioner
I also make alternating use of Firsthand Supply’s Shampoo and Conditioner duo, which cleans out styling product without feeling like it's stripping my hair of its natural oils. The shampoo lightly foams in water, and I work into the hair and scalp its blend of aloe vera, argan oil, and thickening hydrolyzed rice proteins, amongst other things. Following with the conditioner, its creamy consistency rapidly whips into a luscious foam, coating hair and scalp. Simple and straightforward - this is a brand that is consciously good in function and ethics, and I’m happy to use them.
Jaxon Lane Super Serum
They weren’t kidding when they chose the word super – it’s full of all the things you’d want in a serum: centella, peptides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, among much more – which are all in the service of exceptional skin. It improves its visible appearance and protects it in the long run, with ingredients at concentrations clinically proven to treat fine lines, while it brightens dull skin. A few drops massaged into the skin after a cleanse, then sealed with a moisturiser. This is a non-negotiable within my evening routine.
Jaxon Lane Relax and Repair Moisturiser
Jaxon Lane continues to impressive with their Relax and Repair moisturiser, working synergistically with the serum. This one’s all about hydration and protection. Squalane is a powerful hydrator and is already found naturally on the skin. Used in a moisturiser, it absorbs quickly. Ceramides protect the skin barrier, which wanes with age, while centella stimulates collagen production, resulting in skin that is elastic and plump. Effective and never greasy, it works its magic as I sleep. In the morning the difference is noticeable, and my skin looks great.
Lab Series Anti-Age Max LS Eye Treatment
The skin under and around the eyes are more delicate, and are often the first noticeable signs of ageing, and so it pays to offer them special attention and treatment. Eye care is short and long term at once. Immediately, the skin is hydrated, smoothed and revived. Caffeine, for instance, works to diminish visible dark circles. Long term - it begins to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thanks primarily to a blend of peptides. This Eye Treatment from Lab Series is no nonsense, and its tube format makes application seamless.
