The sensation of shock and provocation is not new to the world of art, or perfumery for that matter. And oftentimes the force of shock is what is required to get the message across. This extrait de memoire is violent - out from the bottle with the piercing charge of iodine: an impersonal smell that creates a sterile mood. It is the instant smell of hospitals and clinics, wound dressing, antiseptic and disinfectants - for many of us, these are unpleasant associations - it is the sheer brutality of fact; the facts of life, the misfortunes of existence, and the fate of our thrownness into the world. A throw of the dice will never abolish chance.

Inexcusable Evil is unafraid of lingering in this state of discomfort. Iodine’s peculiar affinity for the chemical burn and tarnish of gunpowder is emphasised here, robbing the scent of any chance of sweetness or reprieve. Ozonic notes further sap the fragrance of friendlines or sweetness. And - in what can only be called perversion - floral materials are detectable deep within the debris and ash of this fragrance, as if a melancholy bouquet flowers were wrapped in gauze.
