Editor's Notes

Black Afgano offers the clearest expression of the Nasomatto style, equally encapsulating the brand’s ethos. Its simple note list of coffee, oud, tobacco, and hashish becomes the basis of a trip. Its olfactory profile is merely a key towards a broader, more holistic experience. Its impression is that of many folds of black, illuminated by only a single point of light, its beams irradiating plumes of smoke and char. There is the gentle lift of green viscous sweetness, which becomes a lacquer on the textured surface of rough-hewn wood in an impenetrably black colour.

In many respects, Black Afgano is not meant to induce an easy experience – there is no guarantee that it’ll yield itself to the wearer. It has a brutal toughness. It is funky and coarse and unflinching about this fact. Nasomatto perfumes are interesting ones, they make us question our tastes whilst inducing an experience as we let the fragrances work themselves upon us. It is a mystery – its scent leads the way, along the resinous trail to its drydown where it becomes a sweetly smouldering scent.

These notes are united by a central theme of smoke and char. Roasted coffee and sticky hashish oleoresin – alight in a precious wooden pipe – become the frame in which tobacco and chips of agarwood are ignited in a ceremony of smoke and fumes. Remarkably, Black Afgano oscillates between woody and amber sensations and textures – defining its character.

Dark & Resinous

Beautiful and intriguing. I absolutely love the resins and oud in this, it’s not very animalic. I’m a little bit addicted to smelling this on my boyfriend.

Black Afgano - quietly confident

My favourite of all time. Warm, moody, mysterious. Others love it too.

Great product, average cologne

Noah offering samples is a 10/10, the 3 stars is just in reference to the scent. Definitely pick up a sample first, it doesn't smell like the notes read on paper. It's actually a very generic, powdery scent.

Black Afgano

Love it,

I have tried multiple clones/inspirations from other renown companies and this one is still the king.

Black afgano - heavenly

Loved this for me - warm, and balanced.

A Masterpiece

This is one of my favourite Nasomattos, a true masterpiece.
A nice dark woody amber smell that I am yet to find matched by any other cologne.

Edgy

This aroma is hard to define, it's got different scents at different times!
All with varying degrees of 'edginess' is the best way I can describe it, naturally this is just my opinion!
It's four and a half stars

This scent is a winner.
Everytime I use this I'm reminded of the enigma that it is.
My wife knows this scent when I wear it. It's the only one that she picks everytime.

An amazing fragrance that is a must have.

Smoko but classy

Sweeter than you think it'll be, but in good almost sherbety way. Like smoko and incense but at the Hilton instead of your mate's sharehouse. Fancy winter vibes.

Ruthless masculinity in a scent.

Ruthless masculinity in a scent. Definitely a try before you buy, but if this suits you, well...

One spray is enough for my partner to pick up I have it on three rooms away, and for someone who doesn't tend to like woody orientals, to say it drives her crazy is an understatement.

I love this scent - ...

I love this scent - If you are the type of man that loves earthy tones and notes in a scent you will be drawn to Black Afgano - My advice do not go over board with application as less is truly better when it comes to this particular scent.

Lives up to the hype

Awesome fragrance. Strong and complex notes with a slight burning hashish scent. Will last all day and I am still trying to find a fragrance that I would wear over this given the chance.

Worth the money

This is quite a powerful scent, but very impressive.
I dont usually spend $200+ but this is worth it! One spray is enough so it will last a long time. I get lots of comments on this scent - couldn't recommend more highly.

Strange yet intoxicating

This is an extrait, so just a spray is enough.
This and nasomatto's other fragrance Duro is masculine fragrance at its best. Compared to Duro, which I would say its scent is more linear, Afgano is complex, each fragrance note, mixing and yet independently standing out.
This is definitely a winter/autumn scent and the sillage on this bad boy is amazing. It's not for everyone, but if you want to feel just a bit more manly give it a go~~~

#1 Fragrance - always complimented

I own at least 50 fragrances but by far this is my favourite and the favourite of those around me at work. Only need the smallest amount and the scent lasts for the day. It's very strong so don't use too much but that means this lasts and lasts.

Loud yet mysterious

This offering from Nasomatto has similarities with Armani Prive Bois d'aciens, but where Armani evokes the smell of church incense... Black afgano is like its twin, which yanks you by the scruff of the neck into a weekend long bender, which will take a week to recover from and although you swear you'll never do it again, you keep coming back for more. As with all Nasomatto this is loud, the silage is enough to part crowds and as per usual, test it first. I love it.
