Occasion:
An idiosyncratic oud - clinical, charred, sharp, and surprisingly sweet in the dry down - a bold fragrance. Worn discretely, it makes a wonderful signature for an oud lover. More loudly, and it's a huge going out fragrance.

Made in South Korea

Oud Candy is keen and bracing, and at first assumes a sharp shape in the air. The usual top-down fragrance architecture feels inverted: the base strikes first, starkly: parched, sterile woods and austere leather, exuding a near-antiseptic and clinical sharpness. It is a very typical image of oud, done with some exaggeration and precision, assertively masculine and utterly unyielding. I am reminded of something industrial, like a warehouse full of solvents, rope, wires, plastic wrapped CD cases, and cold metal - this could be an ‘Odeur’ from Comme des Garcons.

A soft warmth breaks this impersonal spell, and from this industrial haze, a scorched sugar outline takes form. Some resin, scalded milk, dark caramel - this is subtle yet insistent. This is unusual perfumery, and very evocative.
