Histoires de Parfums 1969 Eau de Parfum

$30500

1969, an erotic year. This perfume represents revolutions of many sorts, and evokes an intense sensuality, accentuated by white musk and intense chocolate against the carnal sensuality of a voluptuous bunch of spices. In the trail of this spicy gourmand, mystery is tinted with eroticism that the mythical year of 1969 evokes without a blush.

EDITOR'S NOTES

If you were looking for interesting, this might be it. 1969 is an act of subversion, disrupting expectations. The opening of this fragrance is a thrilling rush of photorealistic peach - the juiciest, sweetest, most perfect summer fruit captured in scent: gourmand bliss without excess. But - and here's the interesting part - in the shadow of this peach note is an exceptional accord of rose and patchouli anchored to woods and spices, where for a moment clove takes centre stage, and then cardamon, and then dark chocolate, and then amber, ... repeating this series of sequences again and again in a shuffle of what is otherwise an archetypical soft spice fragrance; uniquely emphasising the top note that the category often downplays. Altogether 1969 is a juxtaposition: fruit and earth, fresh yet spicy, clean yet dirty. Magnificent.

1969:

Is it just me or are peach and rose combinations becoming more common?

The way that this fragrance develops is quite fluid, I'd call it a slightly feminine leaning gourmand. It starts out with a bright burst of fancy peach cordial while hints of rose, musk and spice are lingering just underneath. The opening is full, radiant, warm, beautiful - projection at this point is large. The musk is noticeable throughout and gives the composition a cleaner feeling despite the syrupy texture of the peach.

Later on the chocolate, patchouli and spice become more noticeable and by this point the scent is quite mellow, perhaps you'd call it a skin scent but it does liven up from time to time. It still feels clean but a touch more masculine, the dry-down carrying whispers of the former fruity sweetness. The coffee probably exists in support of the chocolate note the same way one adds a dash of coffee to liven up a chocolate cake. Likewise, the white florals are probably present in support of the musk.

The perfect fruit fragrance for spring should be as complex and well blended as this. If peach iced tea is your jam then give this a whirl.
