I am inspired by a sacred wood, palo santo, a wood that makes the living and the gods speak. The shamans planted me, my perfumer breathed me in without tearing me from my native land, the Amazon. Out of respect, I became frankincense and myrrh wood.

I am a woody-spicy trail, my structure is a fine framework of creamy cedar around which numerous fragrant stars gravitate, sometimes fresh, like bergamot, or burning, like nutmeg.

I am a perfume that should not be put in everyone’s hands. A heavenly soothsayer and divine seer, I protect and liberate, I make people travel and meditate. I am Santo Incienso, Sillage Sacré. A wood and incense perfume signed by Alexandra Monet, 2017.

EDITOR'S NOTES

An extraordinary incense fragrance, uniquely the scent of burning sacred woods. While frankincense and myrrh trees are tapped for resin and its hardened tears are burned, it is the wood of the palo santo tree that is used for its aromatic smoke.

Santo Incienso is an evocative ‘headspace’, like stepping into an atmosphere saturated, but not weighed down, with incense smoke. It develops the natural citrusy facets of palo santo wood with bergamot and petitgrain from the bitter orange tree; the former rich with fresh terpenes that contribute to the radiance and freshness of the scent. Hedione, a fresh and airy jasmine material, lends floral lift and modernity; texturised with nutmeg and cedar, coming to rest on a cloud of milky white musks. There is no doubting that this is an incense scent, though it is equally clear that this splendid smoke comes from excellent wood notes.
